History of REVOTARG® ( The Team Target Game)
· REVOTARG® originated in elementary school during my 35 years as a physical education teacher. The response from students urged me to upgrade REVOTARG® to this alternative team sport.
· REVOTARG® was, originally, suppose to be for boys and girls who played baseball or softball BUT the target was hit more often by players who did not play those sports. Therefore, REVOTARG® , immediately, became a “ confidence builder” among non-athletes as well as athletes.
· In high school, the game became even better because of the participants’ ability to pass and receive.
· The adults who have played, find it exciting and fun because they are able to move at their own pace.
· Grouping for each of the two teams was important in order to give the non-aggressive person the chance to be a real part of the game. Such grouping was as follows:
Group # 1 ----- Boys ( aggressive)
Group # 2 ----- Girls ( aggressive)
Group # 3 ----- Boys and/or Girls ( shy, timid, non-aggressive )
1st five minutes of play ----- Group # 1 from each team ( points tallied ).
2nd five minutes of play ----- Group # 2 from each team ( points tallied and added
to previous score).
3rd five minutes of play ----- Group # 3 from each team ( points added to previous
score).
4th five minutes of play ----- Repeat same rotation.
After everyone has learned how to play, then Co-Ed grouping works nicely.
· REVOTARG® provides the opportunity for all ages to participate with others of their own age group and fitness level.
· The Recreational Director can set-up a program with competitive or non-competitive leagues to fulfill the desires of the community.
